Introducing the SKP Wellness Review! Here at SKP Massage, we take your wellness care seriously and want to provide you with information about taking care of your well-being beyond your massage appointment.

The SKP Wellness Review will be released at the beginning of every month. You can find it at SKPmassage.com, on Facebook, and in your email, if you are subscribed to our newsletter through your Mindbody account. If you would like, you can request a paper copy to be mailed to you or you can pick it up when you come to your appointment. Meet Stephanie K. Phillips! Stephanie is the owner and founder of SKP Massage LLC, and your favorite Licensed Massage Therapist. She started her formal education the start of 2006 at Stautzenberger College, graduating in 2009 with an Associates of Massage Therapy.  Stephanie is licensed in the states of Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

She started SKP Massage in 2014 and opened the brick and mortar in 2015. She has continuing education in Medical Massage, Sports Massage techniques, Kinesio-Tex taping, and the nervous system. Stephanie holds CPR certification from the American Heart Association. Rest assured, you are in great care at SKP Massage.

Whitehouse Cherry Festival
Owner, Stephanie Phillips was remarkably busy in June…

The Whitehouse Cherry Festival was the first festival of the summer for Lucas County and boy did it show. It was a very busy Festival and a huge success. Stephanie was highly involved in the festival. Of course, she had her SKP Massage booth, giving chair massages but she was also involved by sponsoring and setting up the Anthony Wayne Alumni Association Booth and she sponsored the DAR booth. American Legion Post 384 WVI would like to extend its appreciation of support to the American Legion Post 384 during the Whitehouse Cherry Fest 2021 Military Night on June 10, 2021. While meeting veterans and supporters we were able to have good conversations while increasing our membership, listen to music and enjoy some delicious food. At Veteran’s Night through tickets and silent auctions, $961.00 was raised for The Women Veterans Initiative and $270 was raised for HOOVES. Thank you to everyone, especially our loyal customers who came out and supported our community at Veteran’s night and the Whitehouse Cherry Festival. 

Muscle of the Month
  
Quadratus Lumborum (QL)
The Quadratus Lumborum is a muscle that causes lower back pain from lack of stretching. The QL must be stretched daily, especially if you sit all day. QL is the deepest abdominal muscle. It’s located in your lower back on either side of the lumbar spine. It starts at your lowest rib and ends at the top of your pelvis.   
 
What is one way to get rid of lower back pain if you sit all day? Just sit down on the floor and spread your legs straight out to each side as best you can. Then, with both hands, reach over your head and lean over to touch your toes. If you cannot touch your toes just lean as far as you can with your arms outstretched over your leg, reaching in the direction you are leaning. Do this same stretch for the opposite side. 
 
You use this muscle to sit, stand and walk, so the QL needs lots of TLC.
